Styleception: Clueless

Styleception está inspirado en el estilo de celebridades o incluso personajes ficticios trasladados a la modernidad (2013) o a la realidad. Styleception va mas allá de copiar el look del personaje, más bien, la idea es inspirarnos de ellas y aplicarlos a nuestro propio estilo.

Styleception is inspired in celebrities' style or even fictional characters adapted to modernity (2013) or reality. Styleception goes beyond coping outfits of characters, rather, the idea is to get inspiration from them and apply it to our own style.

Un Stylception respondiendo a sus peticiones. Admito que antes que me lo propusieran, había pensando en hacerlo, pero no me animé mucho por ser Clueless una serie relativamente moderna, así que actualizarla al 2013 no resultaría con estilismos muy novedosos, pero el reto de interpretar un estilo tan marcado y pulcro como el de Cher Horowitz me hizo querer aceptarlo ¡así que acá tenemos esta Cher brunette!

El estilo de Clueless me recuerda mucho al de Blair en Gossip Girl, es un estilo muy girly y preppy. Lo que identifica a Cher es que no tiene miedo en probar cosas (un don que deberíamos tener muchas), es por eso que durante la película la vemos pasar de un estilo preppy a uno gótico o uno muy seductor. Por eso, lo primero en lo que nos debemos inspirar es en eso, no tener miedo a probar conjuntos ni combinaciones. Estas chicas "sin idea" saben bien cuánta piel deben mostrar, si muestran sus piernas, no se exceden con los brazos ni el pecho, sus looks están acompañados de cardigans y sweater con onda preppy. Los colores no eran problemas, y en sus estilismos hay cualquier color, tampoco le tenían miedo a los estampados ni a los conjuntos matchy-matchy, por ello combino las medias, que son un requisito fundamental en sus conjuntos, con el color del cardigan. Para darle modernismo a la cuestión, agregue los wedge sneakers, porque sería algo con lo que Cher innovaría, aparte que son ideales ya que a las niñas Clueless no les hacía falta ni una falda ni unos buenos tacones. En cuanto a los accesorios, usaban la ley de "menos es más", así que apenas complementaban sus conjuntos con unas perlas. Lo más importante que debemos aprender del estilo Clueless, es que ellas siempre estaban a la moda, pero nunca se dejaron ganar por ella.

I admit that before the proposal, I was thinking to make it, but I didn’t encourage because Clueless is a relatively modern series, so update to 2013 wouldn’t work with newly styling, but the challenge to interpret a style so accentuated and neat like Cher Horowitz made me accept. So here we have this brunette Cher!

The style of Clueless remembers me so much to Blair’s at Gossip Girl, a very girly and preppy style. Which indentifies to Cher is that she doesn’t be afraid trying on things (a gift we should have), that’s why during the film we watch her change from preppy to gothic or very seductive. So, the first thing we need to get inspiration is, not be afraid of try outfits and combinations. These “Clueless” girls know well how much skin should show, if they show their legs, don’t exceed with arms or chest; their looks are matched with cardigans and sweater with preppy style. Colors weren’t the trouble, there's color in their styling, neither they were afraid of prints nor matchy-matchy outfits, so I combine the socks which are fundamental in their outfits, with the cardigan’s color. To give modernism, I add the wedge sneakers because it would be something that Cher would use to innovate, though are ideals because the girls of Clueless didn’t need skirt of high heels. As for the accessories, they used the law “less is more”, so they barely complement their outfits with accessories. The most important thing to be learned from Clueless style is that they were always in fashion, but never let it win.
